What Is a Natal Moon Phase?
Your natal moon phase is the angular relationship between the Sun and the Moon at the moment you were born, which determines how much of the Moon was illuminated in the sky.
Astronomers measure this as the angle between the Sun and Moon along the ecliptic — 0° is a New Moon, 180° is a Full Moon. That single angle sorts every birth into one of eight phases.
This is different from your moon sign. Your moon phase is the Sun–Moon relationship (your emotional rhythm); your moon sign is the zodiac sign the Moon occupied (your emotional style). Together they describe how your inner world actually works.
