What Is a Rising Sign (Ascendant)?
Your Rising sign — also called the Ascendant — is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the exact moment you were born. It changes every two hours or so, which is why knowing your precise birth time is essential.
Think of it this way: your Sun sign is the book, your Moon sign is the story inside, and your Rising sign is the cover. People who meet you for the first time are reading your cover. They experience your Rising sign before they ever get to your Sun.
