01What is a love tarot reading?
A love tarot reading draws cards for a question about the heart and reads each one for what it says about you, the other person and what is happening between you.
Tarot has always been used for questions about love more than any other subject. A general reading answers "what is going on in my life"; a love tarot reading narrows the lens to one relationship, or to the love you hope for, and reads every card through that lens. The same Two of Cups that means a good partnership in business means mutual attraction here.
This page uses a three-card spread built for love: one card for you, one for them, one for the connection. Tell it whether you are in a relationship or single and dating, and the middle card changes its question: for a couple it is your partner, for a single reader it is the person or kind of love you are drawn toward. Each card is read with a love meaning written for this site, for all 78 cards, upright and reversed.
Then the reading goes one step further than a card site can. Each card corresponds to a planet or a sign, and the page looks that planet up in today's sky against your own birth chart. The cards give the reflection; the chart shows what is actually moving for you right now.
02The love spread: you, them and the connection
Three positions, each with one job. The spread works for a couple and for someone single; only the middle question changes.
- 01
You
What you are bringing to love right now: your mood, your hopes, the part you play. This is the card to act on, because it is the one you control.
- 02
Them
In a relationship, what your partner is bringing, as the cards see it. Single or dating, the person you are drawn to or the kind of love that is on its way. Read it as a perspective, not a verdict on anyone.
- 03
The connection
What is happening between you and where it is heading. This is the card the combined reading leads with, because a relationship is more than two people added together.
Below the three cards, the reading puts the You and Them cards side by side and reads their elements together. Fire and air feed each other; water and earth hold each other; fire and water make steam. It is a simple, old idea, and it often names the texture of a relationship better than the cards alone.
03The cards that speak loudest about love
Any card can appear in a love tarot reading, and every one of the 78 has a love meaning in this tool. A handful carry more weight than the rest when they turn up in a love spread:
| The Lovers | Deep attraction and a real choice: two people choosing each other consciously. |
|---|---|
| Two of Cups | Mutual attraction between equals; the classic card of a loving connection. |
| Ace of Cups | New love or an open heart; feelings starting to overflow. |
| Ten of Cups | Lasting happiness and a shared home; love at its most settled. |
| Four of Wands | Celebration and commitment: moving in, an engagement, a happy home. |
| The Devil | Intense attraction that can tip into dependency; know which one it is. |
| Three of Swords | Heartbreak or a painful truth, and the start of healing. |
| The Tower | A sudden shake-up that clears the way for something truer. |
None of these is good or bad on its own. The Lovers reversed asks harder questions than the Three of Swords upright, and the Tower can be the best thing that happens to a relationship built on the wrong foundations. Position matters too: a hard card in the You position is about your part, which is the part you can change.
04Reversed cards in a love tarot reading
About one card in three is dealt reversed, and the page says so on each card. On this site a reversal is always read the same way: the card's energy is blocked, delayed or turned inward. It is not the opposite of the upright meaning.
That matters in love, where a reversed card is easy to read as rejection. A reversed Two of Cups does not mean the attraction is gone; it means the balance between you is off and needs an honest conversation. A reversed Lovers asks which choice is being avoided. Reading reversals as blocks keeps a hard card from becoming a verdict.
When two or more of the three cards are reversed, the reading says so: something is being held back, and the question is as much about what is stuck as about what is moving.
05Where your birth chart comes in
Every tarot card has a traditional astrological correspondence. The major arcana are linked to planets and signs, the numbered cards to ten-degree slices of the zodiac, the court cards to the elements. This love tarot reading uses those links on purpose: each card points to a planet, and the page checks what that planet is doing in your chart today.
If the Empress falls in the Connection position, it points to Venus; if transiting Venus is making a close contact to your chart right now, the reading shows which one and when it is exact. If the planet is quiet, it says that too. The chart layer needs your birth details and, without Pro, is included once a week.
The last layer reads the cards and the chart together in one short paragraph, and it is only allowed to mention the cards you drew and the contacts actually happening. If it cannot say something checkable, you get a plain summary instead.
06What a love tarot reading can and cannot tell you
A love tarot reading is a tool for reflection. It can put a feeling into words, show you a side of a situation you had not considered, or give you a better question to ask. It cannot tell you what another person thinks or feels, and it does not predict whether a relationship will last.
The draw is honest: the deck is shuffled in your browser with a cryptographic random generator, and the cards you click are the cards you get. That is also why the same question can bring different cards on different days, and why a single draw is best read as a snapshot rather than a verdict.
If a relationship is hurting you, a card is not the right tool. Talk to someone you trust or to a professional. For comparing two people's charts, the synastry calculator reads both birth charts together.
07Free and Pro
The three cards, their love meanings, the chemistry of You and Them and the patterns across the spread are free, every time, with no account.
The chart layer and the combined reading use your birth details. Without an account you can try them once; a free account includes them once a week; Pro includes them on every draw.
Signed-in readings are saved to My Readings with the cards you drew, so you can come back to a spread and see how it played out.
08Frequently asked questions
Is this love tarot reading free?
Yes. The cards, their love meanings and the patterns are free every time. The chart layer and combined reading are free once without an account and once a week with a free account; Pro includes them on every draw.
How does the love tarot spread work?
You draw three cards from nine face down. The first is you, the second is them (your partner, or the person you are drawn to if you are single), and the third is the connection between you.
Can I use a love tarot reading if I am single?
Yes. Choose single or dating before you shuffle, and the Them position asks about the person or the kind of love you are drawn toward instead of a current partner.
Which tarot card means love?
The Lovers and the Two of Cups are the classic love cards, with the Ace of Cups for new love and the Ten of Cups for lasting happiness. Any card can speak about love in the right position.
What does a reversed card mean in a love reading?
On this site, a reversed card means its energy is blocked, delayed or turned inward, not its opposite. A reversed love card usually points to something that needs attention rather than an ending.
Can tarot tell me what someone feels about me?
No. The Them card offers a perspective to reflect on, not access to another person's mind. Use it to think about the situation, then talk to the person.
What does astrology add to a love tarot reading?
Each card corresponds to a planet or sign. The reading checks that planet in today's sky against your birth chart, so the cards are tied to what is actually moving for you now.
How often should I do a love tarot reading?
When a question is live, not every hour. Drawing again for the same question until you like the answer turns reflection into noise. Many readers return weekly, or after something changes.
